There is a tyranny facing our nation today that looms as large as Goliath did when he defied the armies of Israel. The answer is the same now as it was then; a David; actually a company of David's who will rise with courage and run to meet the giants of our day.
Our nation was founded by a people who sought freedom from a government who encroached first on their religious liberties and then spilled over into other areas. When the early colonist no longer found they could redress their issues with the king, they appealed to God and heaven. This cry was formalized in an ensign when George Washington commissioned the formation of a navy to assist his army in their cause.
The attacks levied today against the family, life, and now religious freedom are clear. The situation is no less dire than in the founding of our nation and the need to appeal to heaven is urgent. God looks for a people who will respond like David did when he cried "is there not a cause?" (1 Sam 17:29)
The "Appeal to Heaven" was accompanied by the formation of a congress. A congress by its very definition is a formal meeting or assembly of representatives who gather for the discussion, arrangement, or promotion of some matter of common interest. It is a meeting; an encounter. The First Continental Congress launched a process which led to the founding of these United States.
Calling Christian Leaders from all Seven Spheres of Society
With this in mind we are calling forth the First Kingdom Conference of Washington State. We seek Christian representatives from all seven spheres of society (church, business, government, media/entertainment, healthcare, and the family) who like David, will have the courage to appeal to heaven and then act upon heavens direction.
What do we expect from this First Kingdom Congress? Recognizing that the Church is the Lord's primary purveyor of His kingdom, we expect to start a process modeled after a pattern that King David established that will lead to the:
Dr. Dan Hammer and Tim Taylor would like to invite you to join us on August 22nd to launch a long term strategic process at:
Yesterday we learned about the first contributor to blind "I's." That's pride (click here for the article). What's in the middle of pride: "I?"
Have you ever heard someone use the phrase "blind ambition." That's the same thing as selfish ambition. What's at the heart of selfish ambition? Once again it is "i" in the middle. Whenever "I" becomes the primary focus our peripheral vision is limited. Peripheral vision is defined as the part of the vision that occurs outside the very center of our gaze.
I played basketball in high school. That's where I learned about how essential it is in team sports to use your peripheral vision in order to find the open man to pass the ball to for the open shot or to see an opposing player setting a pick when you were on defense. Everyone who I ever played had peripheral vision. No one was physically handicapped, however, there were a few who were handicapped by their character. Their selfish ambition which was usually expressed through a desire to score the most points often led to them hogging the ball. Their concentrated focus on their personal performance, seeking glory, fame or a scholarship blinded them to other players who were open and had a better shot than they did. Ultimately this would hurt their team.
My friends, Christianity is meant to be lived and expressed as part of a team. The Bible teaches us that Jesus is supposed to be at the center of our vision.
One of the things I have learned is that most people have a blind spot. You cannot see a blind spot. You need assistance. That's why cars have mirrors. It is to help a driver manage their blind spots.
Pride is one of the greatest contributors to blind spots. Lucifer (Satan) suffered from pride and it affected his vision too.
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart:
'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.
This portion of scripture is called the five "I wills" of Lucifer. Pretty arrogant don't you think? It was that pride that spread through Satan's minions that blinded the ruler's of this world to the mystery of God in Christ's crucifixtion (1 Cor. 2:7-8). Otherwise they would have never crucified the Lord of glory.
The word pride comes from the Hebrew word gavah and means arrogance or majesty; by implication, excellency, haughtiness, highness, pride, proud or swelling. The problem with pride is that is can make a seeing "I" blind.
What is the common element found in the middle of pride and blind? It is "I."
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. NKJV
Psalm 2 is such a powerful Messianic portion of scripture that speaks of Jesus. I love it! But verse 12 always bugged me. It seemed out of place to me. That is, until I looked at what the Hebrew words meant and then I realized just how limited our English language was to fully express all our Lord was trying to say.
Once I saw what God was really saying it not only made more sense, it provides marvelous insight as to how to be equipped for spiritual war. The word translated "kiss" in verse 12 means....
For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string,
That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do? Psalm 11:2-3
There is no question there is a multifaceted all out strategic attack being launched against the truth of God's word in all spheres of society through people who have rejected God and His Word. From Common Core in the education realm, to an attack on God's family design from Hollywood and organizations like GLADD, to ObamaCare which is decimating not only healthcare but has also affected the relgious sphere, family, business and government spheres of society. For a nation whose foundation was so grounded upon God's word and His principles in its conception this is disastrous. The fruit of our wars, economy, disease, crime etc. all reflect the warnings described in the Pentateuch. These are ancient truths.
It's like the principle of gravity. It's not the fall that hurts. It is the sudden stop the body experiences when flesh encounters something that's existed much longer than it. It is the earth that has been here since creation. Our nation is on a crash course with eternal truth and it is time to brace for impact.
Eternal spiritual truths are just that : eternal truths. If you ignore them eventually you will run into the truth and the encounter with the truth can be disastrous. Respect God's word and you can enjoy the benefits. Reject God's word and you can enjoy the results of your choice.
Our nation became the most prosperous nation in the world because Biblical principles from the foundation of God's word were so integrated in the formation of our government and its judicial system. One thing to note is that no system of government works unless there are men of character to oversee it. I don't care if we are talking about democracy, a republic, socialism, communism or a dictatorship. All will fail without character. The character is the foundation of a man's soul.
Without going into the reason why nor attempting to assign blame I'll just acknowledge that there are wicked men (women) in some of the highest offices of our nation. I emphasize wicked because one of the meanings of that word is twisted. Their thinking is twisted therefore their logic is twisted and there are consequences associated with implementing unrighteous laws and policies. I.e. see 1st and 2nd Kings and do a study on the kings who "causes Israel to sin."
So the question is; if the foundations are destroyed, "what can the righteous do?"
Satan launched an all out campaign to undermine the fear of the Lord. How? I'm glad you asked.
The key is to undermine the truth that God is the Creator. When you get rid of the truth that there is a Creator then you have undermined that fact that there is "divine design." When you undermine divine design then the truth that everyone is created with a purpose is attacked. When purpose is destroyed then accountability is torpedoed. Accountability means the responsibilty to answer for your choices. When you destroy the concept of everyone giving an account for their life before an eternal God, then you have dismantled the fear of God. Psalm 111:10 and Proverbs 9:10 teach us that the fear of the Lord is the begining of wisdom.
There is lots of talk in the body of Christ today saying there is no need for fear because fear drives you away and does not draw you near. That's not totally true. There are two kinds of fear. Matthew 25 and Luke 19 Jesus illustrates the kind of fear that drives a wedge between the servant and his master. You remember the parable. Three servants were given some money. Two invested and recieved a return while one servant hid their talent out of fear. That kind of fear that provoked inaction and missed the mark actually contributed to the seperation between the master and his servant. (The introduction was inspired as I listend to Bill Johnson teach on "Dealing with Sexual Sin in the Church.")
There is another kind of fear based on reverence, love, respect and awe. Its the kind of fear that is found in a healthy relationship with a parent or a spouse. It is a recognition of the consequences possible through trust being violated. This kind of fear actually facilitates intimacy and draws us near.
Campaigns are a series of battles. Here are a few battles I'd like to highlight to illustrate the effects of Satan's strategy with the hope that it will inspire you to engage in God's divine plan for your life. Let's start with Satan's attack on accountability. I like to think of it as account-ability or as, do you have the ability to count?
If you are wondering if I was using a word play you are correct. Do you have the ability to make a difference? You can if you are honest and can count numerically. This is how you can introduce accountability (a count ability).
(CNN) -- Hold the obituary. Experts now think Comet ISON -- or at least part of it -- survived its close encounter with the sun.... Earlier Thursday, NASA scientists had pretty much declared ISON dead at the end of a Google Hangout to watch the comet swing by the sun. But professional and amateur astronomers were undeterred by the reports and kept analyzing NASA satellites. They found images that clearly show something emerging from the sun."
Two days ago I published "Thanksgiving - Hannakah & the ISON Comet on Nov 28." It noted that the occurence of Thanksgiving and Hannakah occuring on the same day will not happen again for another 70,000+ thousand years. Combine that with the ISON Comet passing near the sun on that same day and we find God speaking through a remarkable interalationship of signs in the heavens and on the earth. Two days ago I shared part of what I think God is saying.
What's God saying through all of this?
I submit, we have much to be thankful for IF we keep our focus on heaven. It's time to re-dedicate ourselves back to the Lord just like the Jews dedicated the temple back to the Lord a second time after the Maccabean revolt. It's time to let our lights so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify our Father in heaven. Jesus taught us to pray kingdom come and will be done ON EARTH as it is in HEAVEN. I invite you to join me in dedicating ourselves to manifesting heaven on earth in a new and glorious way during this season of thanksgiving. - See more at: http://www.kingdomleague.org/3/post/2013/11/thanksgiving-hannakah-the-ison-comet-on-nov-28.html#sthash.mZOuwppN.dpuf
At first it was reported that the comet did not survive its brush with the sun. But now we find that it did.
What does this mean? I submit to you....
Why does it seem like the world is going crazy? Matthew 24:12 sheds some light as to why.
"And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. " NKJV
The Greek word translated lawlessness here means "illegal violation of the law, wickedness, iniquity, and unrighteousness. It comes from a word that means lawless." It is either breaking established boundaries or operating outside of boundaries wether knowingly or in ignorance.
The word abound means multiply and the word translated love refers to the "agape" unconditional love of God.
The word translated "cold" is fascinating and sheds tremendous light. The Greek word translated cold is actually "psycho." In the Greek it means to breathe on something so as to reduce the tempature or make it cool. This word also serves as the basis for our modern understanding of "psycho" used in words such as a psychopathic or psychotic person. Dictionary.com says these are crazy or mentally unstable.
Matthew 24:12 means "and because lawlessness, people acting as if there are no absolutes, boundaries or eternal laws, continue to multply their love for God wains and they act like they've lost their mind doing crazy things."
The truth is without the love of God people go crazy and do stupid things. Sin makes people stupid. Stupid refers to a dulled, foolish or senseless mind.
Imprisoned for Christ in Iran
I received an email this morning from one of our partners in ministry about Mostafa who accepted our Lord Jesus Christ in 2009. Click here for the full story from a ministry sponsored by the Voice of the Martyrs.
He was recently imprisoned in Iran because they accused him of:
My thought was, "Lord, is there enough evidence to convict me of being a Christian?"
Is there enough evidence to convict you?
Revelation 2:1-6 "To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,
'These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: 2 "I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary. 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place — unless you repent. NKJV
Over the years I've marveled how often Hollywood comes out with a movie that has a title and a theme that speaks to the season that we are in. It's happened again with Star Trek's Into the Darkness.
Currently our nation is the weakest we've been in this modern era. We have the most debt we've ever had, we have scandal after scandal being exposed. We have an administration who is undermining the constitution with practices that seem more fit for a socialist or even communist form of government. Life, family, marriage, etc. is all under attack and.... the list goes on. We've entered into one of the darkest chapters of our nations history. How did we get here? Proverbs 20:20 provides perfect insight.
Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.
One of the first steps taken towards this present darkness were taken in the 60s during the sexual revolution. It began with dishonoring the parents. Rebellion was in the wind and we are now experiencing the maturation of those decisions in this generation.
We are in deep, deep darkness. Good is called evil and evil good. On one hand I hate this situation and on the other hand I am truly excited. The stage is set for a great awakening.
