What Can the Righteous Do When their Nation is on a Collision Course with an Eternal Truth?

1/10/2014

Picture
For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string,
That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.  If the foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do? Psalm 11:2-3

There is no question there is a multifaceted all out strategic attack being launched against the truth of God's word in all spheres of society through people who have rejected God and His Word. From Common Core in the education realm, to an attack on God's family design from Hollywood and organizations like GLADD, to ObamaCare which is decimating not only healthcare but has also affected the relgious sphere, family, business and government spheres of society.  For a nation whose foundation was so grounded upon God's word and His principles in its conception this is disastrous.  The fruit of our wars, economy, disease, crime etc. all reflect the warnings described in the Pentateuch.  These are ancient truths.

It's like the principle of gravity.  It's not the fall that hurts.  It is the sudden stop the body experiences when flesh encounters something that's existed much longer than it.  It  is the earth that has been here since creation.  Our nation is on a crash course with eternal truth and it is time to brace for impact.

Eternal spiritual truths are just that : eternal truths.  If you ignore them eventually you will run into the truth and the encounter with the truth can be disastrous.   Respect God's word and you can enjoy the benefits.  Reject God's word and you can enjoy  the results of your choice.

Our nation became the most prosperous nation in the world because Biblical principles from the foundation of God's word were so integrated in the formation of our government and its judicial system.  One thing to note is that no system of government works unless there are men of character to oversee it.  I don't care if we are talking about democracy, a republic, socialism, communism or a dictatorship.  All will fail without character.  The character is the foundation of a man's soul.

Without going into the reason why nor attempting to assign blame I'll just acknowledge that there are wicked men (women) in some of the highest offices of our nation.  I emphasize wicked because one of the meanings of that word is twisted.  Their thinking is twisted therefore their logic is twisted and there are consequences associated with implementing unrighteous laws and policies.  I.e. see 1st and 2nd Kings and do a study on the kings who "causes Israel to sin."

So the question is; if the foundations are destroyed, "what can the righteous do?"

Satan's Strategy & Design to Destroy the Fear of the Lord

12/4/2013

Picture
Satan launched an all out campaign to undermine the fear of the Lord.  How?  I'm glad you asked.

The key is to undermine the truth that God is the Creator.  When you get rid of the truth that there is a Creator then you have undermined that fact that there is "divine design."  When you undermine divine design then the truth that everyone is created with a purpose is attacked.  When purpose is destroyed then accountability is torpedoed.  Accountability means the responsibilty to answer for your choices.  When you destroy the concept of everyone giving an account for their life before an eternal God, then you have dismantled the fear of God.  Psalm 111:10 and Proverbs 9:10 teach us that the fear of the Lord is the begining of wisdom.

There is lots of talk in the body of Christ today saying there is no need for fear because fear drives you away and does not draw you near.  That's not totally true.  There are two kinds of fear.  Matthew 25 and Luke 19 Jesus illustrates the kind of fear that drives a wedge between the servant and his master.  You remember the parable.  Three servants were given some money.  Two invested and recieved a return while one servant hid their talent out of fear.  That kind of fear that provoked inaction and missed the mark actually contributed to the seperation between the master and his servant.  (The introduction was inspired as I listend to Bill Johnson teach on "Dealing with Sexual Sin in the Church.")

There is another kind of fear based on reverence, love, respect and awe. Its the kind of fear that is found in a healthy relationship with a parent or a spouse. It is a recognition of the consequences possible through trust being violated.  This kind of fear actually facilitates intimacy and draws us near.

Campaigns are a series of battles.  Here are a few battles I'd like to highlight to illustrate the effects of Satan's strategy with the hope that it will inspire you to engage in God's divine plan for your life.  Let's start with Satan's attack on accountability.  I like to think of it as account-ability or as, do you have the ability to count?

If you are wondering if I was using a word play you are correct.  Do you have the ability to make a difference?  You can if you are honest and can count numerically. This is how you can introduce accountability (a count ability).

Spiritual Intelligence Report Burma & a Watchman's Role

10/11/2013

PictureDagon Pagoda
The office of prophet is likened unto that of a watchman in Ezekiel.  Scripturally we see there are three ways that God anoints prophets with a spirit of revelation to gather what I like to call "spiritual intelligence."  First, God can speak directly to a prophet audibly, internally, or through a vision or a dream just like the Lord spoke to Elisha sharing with him the Syrian King's war strategies (2 Kings 6:12, 2 Kings 7:1).  Second, God can speak through research and give direction like He did Daniel as he studied the book of Jeremiah (Dan. 9).  Finally, God can give insight through prayer walking just like the Apostle Paul recieved revelation about how to present the gospel to the Athenians in Acts 17 using the statue of the Unknown God he'd seen as he wandered through the city.

I'm going to use our recent trip to Burma to illustrate how we constantly seek to gather and utilize spiritual intelligence.

Prayer Walking
During the second part of our journey to Myanmar (Burma) we stayed in Yangon.  As we walked through the city made several observations.  I will only share two.  First, we saw Shwedagon Pagoda. The term "dagon" stood out immediately.  Second, we saw the Lion Throne in the National Museum.  We learned that the Lion throne was only ascended by the king when judicial decrees were to be made.  This is clearly a counterfiet throne.  It is a counterfiet of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

Sage Advice from a State Rep. Regarding Privacy & Government

6/13/2013

PictureRep Matt Shea
I met Representative Matt Shea in Spokane WA in 2010 while I was mobilizing the Church in that region through Operation Rolling Thunder.  I liked Matt right away.  He is an army officer, a combat veteran, an attorney and a Christian.  I like all that, but what I truly like is that Matt entered the political arena to serve.  He did not check his morals and convictions at the door of political expediency.  From my observation, truth is something that is important to him and he is not afraid to stand up with boldness and courage to fight for the truth.

I remember the oath I took to defend the constitution of these United States and from watching him over the last three years, I'd say he remembered that oath too.  It also appears like he has actually read it and is defending it rather than undermining it and violating it for political expediency.  I appreciate the moral conviction and courage he has been demonstrating.  Now, I'd like to share with you some sage advice he just offered in his recent blog

20/20 Insight into This Present Darkness

5/22/2013

Picture
Over the years I've marveled how often Hollywood comes out with a movie that has a title and a theme that speaks to the season that we are in.  It's happened again with Star Trek's Into the Darkness.

Currently our nation is the weakest we've been in this modern era.  We have the most debt we've ever had, we have scandal after scandal being exposed.  We have an administration who is undermining the constitution with practices that seem more fit for a socialist or even communist form of government.  Life, family, marriage, etc. is all under attack and.... the list goes on.  We've entered into one of the darkest chapters of our nations history.  How did we get here?  Proverbs 20:20 provides perfect insight.

Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.
One of the first steps taken towards this present darkness were taken in the 60s during the sexual revolution.  It began with dishonoring the parents.  Rebellion was in the wind and we are now experiencing the maturation of those decisions in this generation.

We are in deep, deep darkness.  Good is called evil and evil good.  On one hand I hate this situation and on the other hand I am truly excited.  The stage is set for a great awakening.

The Oath - The Curse & alah

9/28/2012

Picture
Over the last couple of years the Lord has really been emphasizing to me that we need to "pray and hit the mark."  There are many applications for it but in my personal bible study a few weeks ago I came across a very interesting definition in my Strongs Concordance reference the Hebrew word in the Old Testament 423. It is pronounced
'alah (aw-law') and it means an imprecation.  It is translated in 36 scriptures as  curse, cursing, execration, oath, or swearing.

Last week I wrote an article urging Christians to begin to pray the prayers of King David.  Some know these as imprecatory prayers (click here for It is Time to Pray the Prayers of David.)  This article was partially provoked by the persecution many of our brothers in the Lord are facing and a specific attack on team members in Pakistan that hospitalized three.

Yesterday I was sent a Youtube video by one of our church members that provides even more thought provoking illumination on this subject.  It gives me a whole new perspective of "praying to hit the mark."  Click here for this Youtube excerpt.

For more click here for Sid Roth's Interview with Walid Shoebat on this subject. Walid is a former Muslim from Bethlehem who was raised to hate Jews and was a forerunner terrorist in America.

The alah is found in 36 scriptures in the bible.

The History of Islamic Hostility Towards the West is Much Deeper Than You Think

9/11/2012

Picture
Chuck Colson said "the history of Islamic hostility toward the West goes back centuries. Radical Muslims are still smarting over the defeat of their armies south of Paris in the year 732, not to mention the catastrophic defeat of the Ottoman Empire at the gates of Vienna on September 11, 1683. That's right, September 11. Bin Laden chose his date for a reason. He was avenging the defeat of Muslim armies more than four hundred years earlier. September 11 has roots in an [ongoing long-term] irrational hatred of the West."

The truth is, it goes deeper than this.  This is a spiritual war manifesting itself on earth as it was in heaven.  This war has been manifesting itself ever since Abram fathered Ishmael and Isaac (Gen. 16-25).  It actually began in eternity.

Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

What If God...

8/1/2012

Pray, Consult God's Word & Vote
What if...
  • God's people prayed that God would give us righteous governmental leaders?
  • Proverbs 29:2 - When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
  • The pattern - a king's policy "made" a nation "sin."  IE. 1 Kings 14:16, 1 Kings 15:26-34,  1 Kings 16:2
  • 2 Chronicles 7:13-16  -  When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

What if....
  • God answers our prayer and gives us candidates and leaders like what we asked for?
  • We respond by saying "he doesn't have enough experience" (IE how much political experience did Joseph have when he was selected to be 2nd in command of Egypt? - Genesis 41:39).  I'm going to vote for the candidate who I think will get the most votes even though he enacts or would enact laws that violate God's principles.
  • We ignore the one God sent but listen to the wisdom of the entrenched religious and political elite who think they know better and who represent the majority of the religious and political system?  In Moses' day only 2 of 12 spies were right and a whole nation died before the two were able to enter the promised land.  In Jesus day, the religious system rejected Him and did not recognize the anointed one God sent.  By 70 AD they lost everything.
Do you remember what Jesus said?  Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, Sadducees and Herod.  What is that?

The Mystery of Lawlessness is At Work

6/28/2012

Our highest law enforcement official, head of the Justice Department, was just found in contempt of congress.  It is the first time in history that Congress has found a sitting US Attorney General in contempt (click for House Holds Eric Holder in Contempt).  Why?  Lying!  The condition of America continues to deteriorate as lying has become the norm.

It is just one more instance of the growing culture that tolerates and encourages lies within government from the federal level down to city government.  Why the Washington State Supreme Court even ruled in 2007 that lying in politics was allowed (click for State's highest court backs lying in politics).  Leaders like this releases a spirit of lawlessness across the land.

Let me be clear, it did not start with this administration.  It has been growing ever since our nation began turning our back on God with the rejection of the ten commandments, prayer, the bible etc.  Our economic decline as a nation remarkably parallels our moral decline.  This is a problem that spans every area of society.  It is the mystery of lawlessness.

2 Thessalonians 2:7-10
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. NKJV

Lawlessness comes from the working of Satan with all unrighteous deception.  It manifests through people who choose to believe the father of lies.  Those that are deceived become even more deceived because they did not receive the love of the truth.

The Relationship Between Deception & Truth

2/1/2012

I received an email from one of our supporters talking about praying for a high level government leader.  They were trying to do the right thing in praying for them but observed that their words were almost always eloquent: a powerful communicator.  However, they often did not do what they said.  I replied:
Thank you and it reminds me of

2 Corinthians 11:13-14
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.

The root word for deceit is
to decoy; compare 1185 ); a trick (bait), i.e. (figuratively) wile: — craft, deceit, guile, subtilty.

Good deception is always clouded wi copius elements of truth so as to sneak in deception!  Saying is one thing but the actions are truly what counts and communicates what is really meant
