![]() Recently a professor at a Christian college stepped down after saying that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. The confusion with many rests with scripture interpreted without the Spirit of Truth. Interpreting scripture without the Spirit of Truth leads to dead religious interpretation where theologians make the same mistake the Pharisees did in Jesus day. They can be staring right at God's Word and yet, never see the truth. In fact, not only did they not recognize the Way, the Truth and the Life, the promised Son that God sent them; they helped kill Him. It is true that Isaac, the son of the promise and Ishmael, shared the same father; Abraham. Abraham in is referred to our father in the faith in Romans 4. Ishmael became a great nation or nations and through his heritage came Islam. However, that does not mean that Christians and Muslims share the same God. We do share a common heritage. But men choose which God they worship. All people came from Adam and Eve and yet we do not all worship the same God. Scripture teaches us that Satan comes and masquerades as an angel of light. He is ultimately the one behind all the different deceptions for he seeks the worship that only belongs to God himself (Isaiah 14:12-16). He (the false god) looks good on the surface but upon closer inspection, it is a deception. He seeks to trick people into worshiping himself as God for he desires to be "like the Most High." He is a thief and seeks to steal God's glory (John 10:10). Sadly, we've done a poor job of making disciples who daily read and study God's word and actually have a personal prayer life. This is the reason there are so few who are not confused by statements like "Muslims and Christians worship the same God." The Bible is our standard and says:
So the question is, what is what do the words and actions of Islam produce. Now granted, not everyone in Islam acts upon nor believes everything the Koran says. It's the same in Christendom. However, the teachings found in the Koran have yielded the following since 9/11.
Would you agree that murder, rape, torture, stealing and lying are sins? These acts and those who commit them are not right. Those actions are reflect a hatred of certain people for love does not steal. Love does not rape. Love does not spread fear and murder. Love tells the truth. Would you agree? Let's look at what the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth prompted the Apostle John to write about how to discern the source of good and evil in 1 John 3:8-11.
We learn that:
John goes on to in 1 John 3:14-15 that:
It is true, we have some common history but it is clear, we DO NOT worship the same God. Jesus said: John 10:10-11 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. " I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. Jesus does not destroy lives; He saves! He died for you and I that we might have an eternal relationship with a loving heavenly Father. He died for those who are bound in the deception of Islam as well. He desires that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the Father. So do Christians and Muslims worship the same God? No! Let us pray that the veil is lifted. Lord of the harvest I pray you would send laborers into your harvest. I pray you deliver those bound in deception that they might have the opportunity to know the love of the Way, the Truth and the Life; Jesus Christ. Comments are closed.
