![]() Justice is the place where mercy and truth meet. The dualistic legal and moral standard displayed by this administration time and again over the last number of years is appalling. The growing evidence of lies, cover-ups and mis-direction from Fast and Furious, to Benghazi, the IRS scandal to this are just a few examples of how truth is being murdered. (Note: this is not a Democrat nor a Republican issue, it is an example of the mis-use of power by people in authority. I pray for their personal salvation, wisdom and heaven's help. I pray God help them lead our nation so that we are protected and blessed as a people. However, praying for and hoping God blesses each leader does not give them a free pass with no accountability for violation of spiritual and moral laws that exist. It also does not negate the consequences of spiritual laws which come upon a nation and land when leaders err or pass laws and enact policies that encourage people to sin against the spiritual laws. It seems to me though that many of my brethren are ignorant of the whole counsel of God's word and end up neglecting truth in a mis-guided attempt to exercise mercy. There is also many brethren just as ignorant of the love of God and neglect mercy in their attempt to apply truth. Here is the truth we need to pray that each leader have a real divine encounter with the living God for their sake and ours (Proverbs 21:1). In lieu of that, we need to pray that they'd receive counsel that would encourage righteous decisions. If however they do not and make decisions that violate God's word rest assured that the spiritual laws enacted when God created the heavens and the earth and then began to communicate through Noah, Moses and other patriarchs will work for good or for bad. For example, God's word says:
Whenever leaders or governments lie there is an injustice performed. Mercy to the victim means the perpetrator is brought to justice. That can only occur as the truth comes out. When civil government fails to exercise justice and truth then they have abdicated their God given responsibility (1 Tim 2:1-7, Rom 13:1-4). God is in heaven and the world He has given to the sons of men (Ps. 115:16). God is desiring that we rise up and take dominion over sin that rules in people's lives. In fact, He is waiting for His enemies to be made His footstool (Matt 22:44 & Ps. 110:1). I noted in Isaiah 59:2 how sin separates us from God. When this occurs the solution, God's solution is an intercessor. That is someone who will plead a case on behalf of another. It is a legal solution because it is an issue of justice. In fact, it angers God when their is no justice. Isaiah 59:15-16 ... Then the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him That there was no justice. He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him. God looks for someone who will plead the case of another in the courts of heaven (Isa. 2:2, Mic 6:1, 1 Sam 24:15...). He also looks for someone who'll lend their tongue to Him that He might plead His case too (role of prophets, Jer 51:36, Ezk 20:36, Jer 25:31..). Justice comes from a decision that renders mercy to the victim and consequences to the perpetrator. If we understand that when leaders sin their followers can often suffer the consequences of their decisions, then we'll act in such a way for the good of the people and nation recognizing that the confrontation of sin is actually an act of love (Eph 4:15). Love embraces truth, not a lie. The kind of judgments spoken of in Revelation 21:6 stating that liars will suffer in the lake of fire refer to those who never repent of their lying. This portion of scriptures refer to the people who are habitual liars, sexually immoral, murders, idolaters etc. That's the beauty of what Christ did. He paid the price for all of those sins. It is a price no one could pay except Him. He died for you and I. Those that choose to embrace the gift Jesus Christ provided (eternal life) can do so when they confess as sin, the things God's word calls sin and then repent. That means change your mind which results in a change of actions that follow. Acts performed that were previously not right are exchanged for actions that can be called righteous. I promise you, if you just try to do good you will fail, but if you embrace all that Christ has to offer, the law of love will empower you to go far beyond anything the law requires. So I encourage you to join me in praying not only for our leaders but let's pray for mercy and truth to manifest such that justice might be rendered to people who have been sinned against. Pray for wisdom and that they would enact laws that invite blessing vice drought, wars and economic failure. The history of this nation is in the hand of the intercessor. Know this, judgment for the victim is mercy. Judgment for the perpetrator is justice. It is important to note, that even in judgment God's nature is to extend mercy IF they'll acknowledge their sin and turn to Him because God's correction is always in the hope of reconciliation (Heb 12:3-11).
