Prophecy! Whirlwind in our state... What Does that Really Mean?

Tim Taylor 2/11/15 - On January 11, 2015 Chuck Pierce a well known Prophet/Apostle in prophesied in Everett Washington "Let the Whirlwind of God begin in Washington State! (click for Chuck's Facebook). 

A similar word was prophesied by Chuck and Dutch Sheets in 2003. I've also seen God actually mark the word I've brought numerous times with signs such as a "whirlwind" which is recorded in Operation Rolling Thunder Revised Edition.  The signs have followed me and the message/strategy (click for 1Church1Day) I carry. They've even followed others whom I've mentored but the signs are not the main thing.  

The main thing is what the signs point to. In my experience the signs mean little unless scripture was involved. I've found the signs occur with the presentation or the application of God's word. He gives the signs to encourage us until we see actual results. 

I've found that most prophetic words remain unfulfilled until someone puts their faith into action with wisdom motivated by love. Hence, when ever I hear a revelation, see a vision, or hear a prophetic word I am always asking "how do I apply that practically?  Or, what would faith in action look like in response to that word."

With that in mind, what would a "whirlwind state" look like?  What's God trying to say?  I submit:

 Let's look to the Bible and let it define what kind of actions or actual results might accompany a "whirlwind."

First the Bible teaches us that it is wise to pay attention to prophets (2 Chronicles 20:20) and once we get God's word we need to corporately proclaim it together (Psalm 68:11).  However, prophetic words without faith in action underscored by wisdom motivated by love usually remains unfulfilled (James 2:18-20).

To learn what "whirlwind" might mean we need to look at how it is used in scripture. Remember that Hebrew and Greek have fewer words that English therefore their words, especially the Hebrew is loaded with meaning.

Ezekiel 1:4 says "Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire." 

Expect the Whirlwind to Bring a Fire

The word translated whirlwind is defined by Strongs as rûaḥ; or breath. It means a sensible (or even violent) exhalation; life, anger, a region of the sky; a spirit, and the functions or expressions of air, anger, breath,  courage, mind, a tempest, or ((whirl-))wind). A look at how this word is used in scripture will unveil some practical things for us to pray into, do, and also to watch for.

Joshua 2:11 "And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath." The word translated courage is the same Hebrew word as whirlwind. 

Expect the Whirlwind to Melt the Hearts of God's Adversaries

In Joshua 1 three times God exhorts Joshua to be strong and be of good courage. Let us pray that our Lord's adversaries will lose courage while at the same time let us pray that the Church be filled with courage. It is the key for us to walk into possess our spiritual promised land. Finally, prayer without works is dead. Watch for ways to practically express courage through what you do and say each day.

Psalms 104:4 "Who makes His angels spirits,  (spirits) His ministers a flame of fire." The word translated spirits is the same word. Angels excel in strength and do God's word (Psalm 103:20). They separate the just from the wicked (Matthew 13:49) and they are sent to serve the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). Therefore:

Expect an Increase in Angelic Activity

But remember, that angels respond to God's word and God is looking for a people who will pray and release His word on earth while putting their faith into action. Ps 103:20-21 says " Bless the Lord, you His angels,  Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.  Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure." NKJV

Joel 2:28-29 "“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions." Spirit is the same word as whirlwind. Therefore, there will be an increase in divine communication. The question is, will you and I position ourselves to communicate, hear and see what the God of the universe has to say? 

Expect an Increase in Divine Communication

If we want the communication to increase, not only must we see and hear what God is saying but we also must OBEY the voice of the Lord. This is where our faith in action comes in. 

Ezekiel 11:1-2 deals with judgment on wicked counselors. "Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the East Gate of the Lord's house, which faces eastward; and there at the door of the gate were twenty-five men, among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. And He said to me: “Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and give wicked counsel in this city," The word Spirit is the same word translated whirlwind.
Therefore, we can expect God's spirit to lead us to confront wicked counsel and counselors. 

Micah 3:8 But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin.

Expect Confrontation of Wicked Systems

Just remember, the purpose of confronting wicked systems is to see people released from the control of the wicked systems that they might have an opportunity to receive the knowledge of the truth; the gospel of the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Love people, hate the sin and the lies that bind them. With mercy, love, compassion and truth set them free. Therefore, not only must we pray, but we must be prepared to receive a harvest of souls with a plan to make disciples. 

Malachi 2:15-16 "But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit?  And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth. “For the Lord God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one's garment with violence,” Says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.” The same word translated whirlwind is translated spirit in this scripture. God is going to be dealing with everything associated with marriage, covenant, and the family unit.

Expect a Greater Fight over Marriage and all Issues Surrounding Families

Just remember, we don't stand to fight for truth to lose. We fight to win.  The key to victory in every fight is God's abiding presence.  Daniel 7:21-22  "I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom. NKJV

Zechariah 12:10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.  The word translated spirit is the same word as whirlwind. 

Expect a Greater Corporate Anointing for Grace, Supplication and Prayer

Expectancy is the key. Expect and see! It begins with our minds and hearts choosing to believe God's word and proceeds to our proclaiming it as well. This is followed by action. I pray we hit the mark that our Lord Jesus might be glorified in this day and that He would receive the harvest of souls He is worthy of.
