I received and email from Charlene yesterday. She is a minister who had allied with us in our League. It is a powerful testimony that involves an example of a false church, the salvation of a racist and reconciliation. The love of Christ delivered a person from a the stronghold of her mind worse than the bars of the prison they were in. Here is Charlene's testimony.
Yesterday a team of 4, all non white, ministered in prison. At the end of service one of the white inmates sat crying in the back. She told a story about how everyone hated her and she had hated most people because she was a racist. She grew up in a town and was taught that if anyone was not like you, you were to hate them - even in the church she grew up in. When she walked into the service and saw blacks, Asians, and Mexican, she hated us and wanted to leave. She said several group were out to get her because of her views.
When she saw how we taught and everyone was involved something happened inside of her. She accepted Christ yesterday and wanted to know if we would accepted her forgiveness. I stood in the gap for all the people she hated and accepted her forgiveness and let her know Christ had to. I told her we are the same in Him. I then had one of the inmates she had a disagreement with extend forgiveness for the inmates, they both cried as God allowed them not only to forgive, one another, but they prayed for one another.
I am so pleased the Lord can change the hearts of men! 15 people rededicated their life to Christ.
Pray we can continue to lead the lost to Christ.
What a powerful example of the role of an "ambassador for Christ" who is a minister, a servant of reconciliation. Let's rejoice with Charlene and the angels in heaven for those who gave their life to Christ this weekend.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 - Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
