Conviction - A fixed or firm belief with a clear objective. An effective movement requires a catalyst. This is usually one primary vision holder who carries a great vision needed to overcome all obstacles in order to see something accomplished. They ignite with passion that spreads to others and other leaders who share the same conviction rally around creating a type of spiritual bonfire. The challenge in the Church today is that there is so little conviction about truth.
Courage - Great love is the key to great courage. At the start of any thing that goes against culture or systemic sin it will take great courage because they will be greatly outnumbered at the start.
Covenant - It is an agreement or contract between two people or between an organization such as the Church. The early Church turned the world upside down by the time of the third century because the movement began with Jesus cutting the covenant with His own blood. Jesus described the covenant in Matthew 16:24 " Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? We have to count the cost (Luke 14:28). A movement with no criteria for how a person gets involved will not go far. The higher the bar, the higher the requirements, the better leaders you will attract. The US Marines figured that out. That's why the are only looking for a "few good men."
Teamwork - This speaks of collusion or alliance. No one possess all of the skill and knowledge. Ephesians 4:16 teaches us that we need every part to do their share. Teamwork is in covenant is essential if for no other reason that for encouragement. Even the greatest leaders have their moments of doubt.
Connection - For teamwork and collaboration to last long a communication and connection is required. Networks and organizations needed to be tightly knit together; interdependent. They need to be so connected they look like one big movement.
Convergence - As various networks and streams begin to flow together they turn into a movement like a mighty river. It is a confluence of streams.
Measurable Success - Nothing motivates continual movement more than testimonies of positive change. The more actual success you can point to the easier it is to maintain momentum, gain followers and raise money to fund the vision. In the beginning few will invest financially and those that do will do so because of the vision holder.
