The Mystery of Lawlessness is At Work

Our highest law enforcement official, head of the Justice Department, was just found in contempt of congress.  It is the first time in history that Congress has found a sitting US Attorney General in contempt (click for House Holds Eric Holder in Contempt).  Why?  Lying!  The condition of America continues to deteriorate as lying has become the norm.  

It is just one more instance of the growing culture that tolerates and encourages lies within government from the federal level down to city government.  Why the Washington State Supreme Court even ruled in 2007 that lying in politics was allowed (click for State's highest court backs lying in politics).  Leaders like this releases a spirit of lawlessness across the land.  

Let me be clear, it did not start with this administration.  It has been growing ever since our nation began turning our back on God with the rejection of the ten commandments, prayer, the bible etc.  Our economic decline as a nation remarkably parallels our moral decline.  This is a problem that spans every area of society.  It is the mystery of lawlessness.  

2 Thessalonians 2:7-10  
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. NKJV

Lawlessness comes from the working of Satan with all unrighteous deception.  It manifests through people who choose to believe the father of lies.  Those that are deceived become even more deceived because they did not receive the love of the truth.

John 8:42-45  
Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.  43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.  44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.  45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.  NKJV

Those that practice lying are influenced by the father of lies.  They become so confused that cannot understand one who speaks the truth.  In fact, they could not even understand Jesus!  So why should any of us be surprised if they cannot hear us when we speak the truth?  

What Can We Do?

2 Thessalonians 2:7-8  
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 

Recognize that the God of this world has blinded people so they cannot see nor hear the gospel.  Recognize there is a prince of the power of the air and that we must bind the spirit of error from operating and allow or release a spirit of truth.  Prayer has become essential; CORPORATE PRAYER is most important especially when it comes to transforming a city, state or nation. You cannot defeat a spiritual foe until you have overcome it yourself.  In other words you can't deliver another person from lying if you habitually lie yourself.  You have no authority.  Our authority begins with its exercise in our own life.  The strategy to transform our society begins with us taking authority over our own lives.  When we do, Christ is ready to punish all disobedience when our obedience is complete.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. NKJV

Once we have gotten authority in our own lives, then it is time to EXPAND OUR TERRITORY.  

Faith without Works is Dead

The strategy to overcome begins in prayer but ends with faith in action.  To fix our nation we need to get righteous people in places of authority and the unrighteous need to be removed.  The solution to transform our nation does not begin in Washington.  It actually begins in the home.  But once you have gotten victory in your own life it is time to exercise your authority in every sphere of society.  When it comes to government each of us as a citizen in this nation ought to be exercising your rights to communicate with our senators, congressmen, and participate in the political process to put righteousness back into this system that is growing corrupt.  It is corrupt because we the Church have seemed to have abandoned that area of society for to long.  

It is time to for us to rise up, take a stand for the sake of righteousness, truth and integrity.
