The trial regarding the incident with Trayvon Martin and George Zimmeran trial is truly tragic. Both families will forever be affected by this incident. Pray for them and pray for love, justice, truth and peace to reign in this nation.
We are a nation of laws with a judicial system. A process was followed in the judicial system and a verdict rendered by the jury whom both the defense and prosecution helped select. They made a decision based upon the rule of law and the evidence presented.
The tragic truth is that the court of public opinion has also been seated by the media and some ministers who seem to care less about evidence and justice and more about a cause they choose to champion. I have no doubt some sincerely have pure motives. Others do not! There are some who prostitute cases like this for personal gain skillfully using the media and group think concepts to move the masses. The consequences of such manipulation have led to racial acts of violence which is exactly like what is being supposedly condemned (Click here for one example).
The sad truth is causes can be profitable for some! For example, look how rich Al Gore became heralding "global warming".... oops.... my bad, now we call that "climate change" because the facts said otherwise. But it was very profitable for his personal fortune until truth began to take over.
How can you tell the difference between the true and the false? First, know and apply God's word. Don't submit to group think and follow the money.
Jesus taught us to love our neighbor as our self as He preached the Be-attitudes in Mathew 5. The color of ones skin, nationality nor ethnicity were ever used by Jesus as a qualifier to determine how He wanted His disciples to act towards other people.
A Christian (ie. one who is Christ like) will stand against racism and hate the "behavior" of any racist act regardless of the color, ethnicity or nationality of the individuals involved. What are some of the signs of hypocrisy?
As Jesus began preaching the Be-attitudes in Matthew 5 He gets on a role. In Matthew 6 He begins to address hypocrites. First He addresses how hypocrites give, then how hypocrites pray and finally how hypocrites fast. This progression of dealing with hypocrisy is implied as He flows in how to judge in Matthew 7:1. He is saying, don't judge (like the hypocrites) or else you will be judged (like the hypocrites). To judge properly you first have to remove the beam that is in your own eye before you can help your brother remove the speck in his eye.
There are some today who selectively use scripture and have become blind. They've become perpetrators of the very thing they say they hate.
Some are false apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors and ministers. One of the characteristics of the "false" is covetousness. For example, Jude warns us "not to run greedily after the error of Balaam for profit." The truth is, every word Balaam prophesied about Israel was accurate. What made him false was his greed!
Hence, in order to discern if a leader is using a cause for personal gain; follow the money. It provides keen insight into the motive of the heart.
The true minister of Christ, a Christian, will apply God's word equally and to all. They will become a minister of reconciliation. Let us pray for peace, truth, justice and the word of reconciliation to be loosed in our nation today. I exhort:
2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. NKJV
1 Peter 4:7-11
But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. NKJV
