![]() Joshua 17:14 Then the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, "Why have you given us only one lot and one share to inherit, since we are a great people, inasmuch as the Lord has blessed us until now?" NKJV The word translated "lot" in the Hebrew means "portion or destiny." Are you dissatisfied with your lot in life? Do you desire more? Are you unhappy with the narrative of your life so far? The truth is, you actually have control of your destiny IF you will take it. You can choose to stay a victim or you can choose to be the victor as you are the author of your life. The question is, will you begin writing a new chapter or will you let others write your book for you? Let's take a look at Joshua 17:14-18 as it provides three keys to changing your lot in life. Joshua 17:14-18 First, you have to believe.
The tribes of Joseph started complaining because they were "unhappy with their lot in life." They wanted more! The Lord says through Joshua if you are the great people you believe that you are, then you can go make a place for yourself. The next thing the Lord says through Joshua reaffirms that they ARE a GREAT PEOPLE and they WILL have more than one lot and they WILL defeat their strong enemies. Jesus reaffirms this concept in Mark 9:23 when He says, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." Second, you must take action. The tribes assessed the challenges. The mountains were wooded and their enemies had special formidable weapons. However, the tribes of Joseph had..... THE LORD. God gave them what they asked for BUT, they had to believe they could possess it, then they had to act in faith. James 2:24-26 says, "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only..... 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." NKJV Third, no destiny is achieved alone. Every vision is connected to a greater vision. Each family's lot was dependent upon the destiny of the tribe. If the tribe failed, the family would not obtain their inheritance. Families made up the tribe which was the army as well. Ephesians 4:16 - from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. NKJV The key to the family's inheritance and destiny was to focus FIRST on the overall objective and work together as a team for the sake of the tribe. So if you are unhappy with the narrative of your life then begin to write a new chapter. First, you must believe! Second, you must take action. Third, taking action starts with helping your tribe accomplish its objective because your destiny and inheritance is tied to its success. Comments are closed.
