What if...

• God's people prayed that God would give us righteous governmental leaders?   
• Proverbs 29:2 - When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. 
• The pattern - a king's policy "made" a nation "sin."  IE. 1 Kings 14:16, 1 Kings 15:26-34,  1 Kings 16:2
  
• 2 Chronicles 7:13-16  -  When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. 

What if....

• God answers our prayer and gives us candidates and leaders like what we asked for?
  
• We respond by saying "he doesn't have enough experience" (IE how much political experience did Joseph have when he was selected to be 2nd in command of Egypt? - Genesis 41:39).  I'm going to vote for the candidate who I think will get the most votes even though he enacts or would enact laws that violate God's principles.  
• We ignore the one God sent but listen to the wisdom of the entrenched religious and political elite who think they know better and who represent the majority of the religious and political system?  In Moses' day only 2 of 12 spies were right and a whole nation died before the two were able to enter the promised land.  In Jesus day, the religious system rejected Him and did not recognize the anointed one God sent.  By 70 AD they lost everything.

Do you remember what Jesus said?  Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, Sadducees and Herod.  What is that?

The leaven of the Pharisees, Sadducees and Herod is a lust for power and control hidden by their hypocrisy.  They say one thing but do another.  They comprise God's word and make unholy alliances for the sake of THEIR power, THEIR control and THEIR name, fame or greed.  For example:

• Matthew 2 - Herod seeks out the religious leaders to inquire where Christ would be born because he feared losing his throne.  It led to the murder of many innocent children in Bethlehem.
  
• The betrayal of Jesus was accomplished by an unholy alliance between Judas, a thief and the Pharisees who feared losing control of the people and their position of influence (John 19, Luke 23 and Mark 15).

It is the kind of hypocrisy we see when Christian leaders espouse the message of "Test of Fire" video found above and then advocate for a politician who supports laws that murder innocent unborn children or undermine God's institution of marriage.

What if...

• We put our faith into action, repented of the leaven of the Pharisees, Sadducees and Herod and voted based upon the eternal principles of God's word?

Jeremiah 26:13 - Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you.  NKJV

At the preaching of Jonah the people of Nineveh, led by their king repented and ..... Jonah 3:10 - Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. 

There is time and their is hope to do the right thing.  Remember, if God counts every hair on your head He will surely record our choices in eternity as well.


1 Peter 4:5 - They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
