![]() There are two initiatives on the ballot in Washington State regarding firearms. I've noted that "gun violence" has become a favorite term used by the media and opponents of guns. I marvel at what is going on and the hypocrisy I see regarding the issue. First, guns are an inanimate object. They can't do anything on their own. They sit there and do nothing just like a knife, a fork or a spoon can do nothing on their own as well. People are the perpetrators of violence not guns, knives, cars etc. Violence or murder is a heart and sin issue. Blaming guns for violence is like blaming the rock that Cain used to kill Able. Is the issue really about protecting people? Let's see if these numbers shed any light. There were about 11,000 homicides using guns in 2010 in the US. Over 31,000 died through vehicular homicide and in a recent article I saw 400,000+ died of obesity. I suppose that should be called fork and spoon violence. According this this recent NBC article they attribute 18% of the deaths in America to obesity click here. People are responsible for their acts. If deaths of people is really the issue then with the logic the government is currently using 400% more attention ought to be devoted to "knife and fork violence." But that is stupid isn't it? That makes about as much sense as "gun violence" when common sense and a lifetime of experience tells us that none of these objects are capable of committing one act on their own.
It requires an operator and that operator is human. These tools in the hands of most people are just that; tools. Tools that are used for good almost all the time. Sadly, that does not work for the media at large because fear and controversy is the current strategy for increasing viewership. The real issue is not "gun violence." The issue is creating a hysteria such that the government can be given power to create that remove these tools from law abiding citizens and ultimately violate the wisdom presented by our founding fathers through the 2nd Amendment. This positions a few in government to be in control of the many. Freedoms and personal responsibility are eroded. The issue is control of the population. That is one of the ways fascist and communistic governments control their population. If you combine the attack on this issue with the growing persecution of Christians evidenced by the recent attack by government on the 1st Amendment (mayor subpoenas 5 pastors sermons and personal communications) and the real picture unfolds. It is like the story Bonhoeffer told regarding his experience with Nazism. Don't be stupid and blind like the people of Germany were. Don't fall for hypocrisy and the intellectual foolishness that looses all perspective except for that which supports their messed up ideology. Sadly I've discovered that sin makes people stupid. The same logic that allows the US to create laws that make it a Federal Crime to destroy eagle eggs or certain turtle eggs while legally allowing abortion is the same twisted logic being applied here. Planned Parenthood and the Twisted Truth Now I am not surprised by the tactic being used. "Gun violence" subtly twists the truth with a view to helping people believe a lie. Planned Parenthood has done that for year. According to the etymology of the word parent it means a father, mother, progenitor, that which produces or generates another, protector or guardian. Parenthood has to do with the creation of a child bringing life into the world. So Planned Parenthood should have to do with the creation of life. Instead the truth has been twisted and now that which should bring life now actually means death: Planned Genocide is actually a more appropriate name for the organization called Planned Parenthood. The same twisted logic used to create the name "Planned Parenthood" is the same twisted logic being applied to "gun violence." Sin causes blindness. Blind people are easily duped. Romans 11:7 " What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded." Don't be stupid. Stupidity makes you blind. Don't ignore the nations that enact laws that permit weapons such as guns (ie. Switzerland, Israel, etc) and see how low the crime rates are in comparison. Then compare to the nations like England and Australia and see what happens to the crime rates when the deterrent (possibility of having a weapon) is removed. However, the real issue is logic and facts don't do much good when people are blind. Join me in praying that the veil be lifted so they can see and know the truth.
